To date, countless locations, schools, and natural wonders have been named after George Washington – and now, a Breyer model horse! Washington sports an electric blue blanket appaloosa coat with black points, putting a fun decorator twist on a realistic white pattern. An Appaloosa coat refers to the distinctive coat pattern found in horses of the Appaloosa breed. Appaloosas are known for their unique and eye-catching coat patterns, which can vary widely from horse to horse. The Appaloosa coat pattern is characterized by a base coat color with distinctive spots or patches of a different color. The base coat can range from solid colors such as black, bay, chestnut, or gray, while the spots or patches can be various shades, such as white, black, brown, or chestnut. The spots can be small and scattered or large and overlapping, creating intricate patterns on the horse's body.

In addition to the coat pattern, Appaloosas often have other distinguishing features, including mottled skin, striped hooves, and white sclera (the visible part of the eye surrounding the iris). These characteristics are often referred to as "Appaloosa characteristics" and are considered desirable in the breed.

It's important to note that not all horses with a spotted coat are Appaloosas. There are other horse breeds and coat patterns that can have spots, such as pintos or pintaloosas. However, the Appaloosa breed specifically refers to horses that possess the Appaloosa coat pattern and other breed-specific traits.
