The Safari Ltd. Muskox figure showcases the muskox's characteristic shaggy coat, curved horns, and robust build. The figure is depicted in a dynamic pose, as if galloping through the tundra, with its long guard hairs flowing in the wind, effectively conveying the animal's adaptation to its harsh environment.

The brown coloring of the body fades to a tan on the back of the neck.  The tan "socks" on the feet are a nice contrast, but the beauty of this model is the horns and the face - which mean serious business.

The Safari Ltd. Muskox figure measures approx: 4.6" L x 1.5" W x 2.8" H.

The muskox is a large, hoofed mammal native to the Arctic regions of North America and Greenland. Despite its name, the muskox is more closely related to goats and sheep than to true oxen. These animals are well-adapted to the extreme cold, possessing a thick coat composed of a soft underlayer called qiviut and a long, coarse outer layer of guard hairs. This dual-layered insulation provides exceptional warmth, allowing muskoxen to endure temperatures as low as -40°F.

Muskoxen are social creatures, typically forming herds ranging from 10 to 20 individuals. These herds are structured with a dominant male leading during the breeding season, while females often take charge during the rest of the year. When threatened by predators such as wolves, muskoxen exhibit a unique defensive behavior by forming a circle with their horns facing outward, effectively protecting the more vulnerable members of the group.
