Styracoasaurus Information:

Styracosaurus is a genus of herbivorous ceratopsian dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 75 to 77 million years ago. It belonged to a group of dinosaurs known as ceratopsians, which were characterized by their beaked faces and elaborate skull frills and horns.

Styracosaurus is particularly well-known for its impressive array of horns and spikes on its skull. It had a large horn protruding from its nose, similar to a rhinoceros, as well as a series of smaller horns extending from its frill. The most distinctive feature of Styracosaurus is a row of long spikes or horns that projected from its neck frill, giving it a formidable appearance.

This dinosaur was relatively large, reaching lengths of up to 5.5 to 6 meters (18 to 20 feet) and weighing around 2.7 to 3 tonnes (3 to 3.3 tons). Its body was bulky and supported by four sturdy legs, making it well-suited for its herbivorous lifestyle.

Styracosaurus likely used its horns and frill for defense against predators, as well as for display purposes during mating rituals or social interactions within its herd. Its herbivorous diet probably consisted of low-lying vegetation such as ferns, cycads, and other plants that were abundant during the Late Cretaceous period.

Fossils of Styracosaurus have been found in North America, specifically in present-day Alberta, Canada, and Montana, United States. These fossils have provided paleontologists with valuable insights into the anatomy, behavior, and evolutionary history of this fascinating dinosaur.
