Wuerhosaurus was a stegosaurid dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period approximately 130 million years ago in what is now China. It is one of the few known stegosaurs to survive into the Cretaceous period after most other members of the group had disappeared. Fossils were discovered in the Wuerho region, which inspired the dinosaur's name.
Unlike the taller plates seen on Stegosaurus, Wuerhosaurus had shorter and broader dorsal plates along its back. Like other stegosaurs, it was a herbivorous dinosaur that likely relied on its spiked tail, often called a thagomizer, for defense against predators.
