CollectA Neanderthal Woman #88527 Review:

It has been many years since we began carrying the neanderthal man by CollectA, finally we have the female available! This unique model has a bone and tooth necklace around her neck. Wielding a barbed club and herbivore skull. Her shoulders and arms are ceremoniously decorated with thin dark lines. Overall good detail and nice paint job.

Neanderthal Woman Information:

Neanderthal women, like Neanderthal men, were a subspecies of hominins known as Homo neanderthalensis. They lived in various regions of Europe and parts of western Asia from approximately 400,000 to 40,000 years ago. Although our knowledge of Neanderthals is based on limited fossil evidence, archaeological findings, and genetic analysis, scientists have made several inferences about Neanderthal women based on these sources.
Neanderthal women were similar in overall appearance to Neanderthal men. They had a robust build, with a stocky and muscular physique. They were generally shorter than modern humans, with an average height of about 5 feet (1.5 meters). However, there may have been some variation in height and body size among individuals.
Neanderthals are believed to have used clothing made from animal hides and other materials to protect themselves from the elements. Both men and women likely wore similar types of clothing, such as simple garments and accessories like belts, bracelets, and necklaces, although the exact details are not well known.
It is challenging to determine specific gender roles within Neanderthal societies, as their culture and social structure are not directly observable from the fossil record. However, it is reasonable to assume that Neanderthal women, like women in many traditional hunter-gatherer societies, may have been primarily involved in tasks related to gathering plant resources, preparing food, and caring for children.
Studies of Neanderthal skeletal remains suggest that childbirth was challenging for Neanderthal women compared to modern human women. The shape of the female pelvis and the size of the infant's head likely contributed to this difficulty. It is likely that Neanderthal women relied on social support during childbirth and that the care of infants and children was a significant aspect of their lives.
Neanderthal women would have played a vital role in the survival of their communities by contributing to food acquisition and processing, child-rearing, and the overall well-being of the group. Their knowledge and skills in areas such as plant gathering, tool-making, and animal processing would have been crucial for the group's survival.
