Megalodon Information:
Megalodon (Otodus megalodon) was one of the largest and most powerful predators ever to live, inhabiting the oceans from approximately 23 to 3.6 million years ago. Scientists estimate it could reach lengths of 50 to 60 feet, making it far larger than any modern shark.
The name Megalodon means “big tooth,” a fitting description for a shark whose massive serrated teeth could exceed 7 inches in length. Its enormous jaws and incredible bite force allowed it to prey on whales, seals, and other large marine animals.
