The Papo Cannon figure is a detailed reproduction of a classic naval cannon, making it the perfect accessory for pirate ships, coastal fortifications, and historical battle scenes. The Papo Cannon measures: 3.5" L
This realistic accessory features a bronze-colored cannon barrel mounted on a detailed wooden-style carriage reinforced with metal fittings. The spoked wheels are accurately sculpted, allowing the cannon to resemble the mobile artillery pieces used aboard sailing ships and in coastal defenses.
The combination of detailed sculpting, realistic textures, and hand-painted finish makes this cannon an excellent accessory for Papo pirate figures, naval displays, historical dioramas, or imaginative adventures on the high seas.
Cannons were the primary heavy weapons carried aboard warships and pirate vessels during the Age of Sail. Cast primarily from bronze in earlier centuries and later from iron, they fired solid cannonballs capable of damaging hulls, destroying rigging, and disabling enemy ships before boarding actions began.
Shipboard cannons were mounted on wheeled wooden carriages that allowed crews to roll them backward for loading and forward for firing through gun ports. Although pirates often preferred to intimidate merchant crews into surrendering with minimal damage to valuable cargo, cannons remained essential for defense, intimidation, and naval combat throughout the 17th and 18th centuries.
