The Papo Horse in Armor figure is an impressive representation of a medieval warhorse prepared for battle or tournament. Covered in detailed protective armor, this figure captures the strength, importance, and prestige of the powerful horses that carried knights into combat.
The Papo Horse in Armor measures: 5.5" L x 4" H
This highly detailed figure showcases a fully armored medieval warhorse with protective covering over the head, neck, and body. The sculpted armor features decorative engravings and patterns that reflect the craftsmanship of medieval armorers, while the alert stance conveys strength and readiness.
The combination of detailed barding, powerful proportions, and historical styling makes this an excellent companion piece for Papo knight figures. The Armored Knight (#39798) is sold separately.
During the Middle Ages, warhorses known as destriers were among the most valuable assets of a knight. These highly trained horses carried heavily armored warriors into battle and were selected for their strength, courage, agility, and ability to remain calm in dangerous situations.
Horse armor, known as barding, protected important areas of the animal during combat and tournaments. It could include a metal face covering called a chamfron, along with protection for the neck, chest, and body. Beyond its practical purpose, an armored horse also represented the wealth, status, and prestige of its rider.
