White lion cubs are a rare color variant of the African lion caused by a naturally occurring recessive genetic trait known as leucism. They are not albinos, as they retain normal eye and skin pigmentation. Most white lions are found in and around the Greater Timbavati region of South Africa.
Like all lion cubs, white lion cubs are born dependent on their mothers for food, protection, and care. As they grow, they develop hunting, social, and survival skills by interacting with other members of the pride. Although their light coloration is unusual, white lions are the same species as other African lions.
