The African Buffalo is a large, sturdy, and powerful bovine that is native to the African continent. They are the most numerous of the large game animals, inhabiting the savannas, floodplains, and montane grasslands of sub-Saharan Africa. African Buffalos are social creatures and live in herds of up to several hundred individuals. The members of the herd communicate through lowing, bellowing, and a variety of other vocalizations. African Buffalos are grazers, eating a variety of grasses, as well as herbs, shrubs, and even scavenging the remains of other animals.
African Buffalos have a unique appearance, with their massive heads and curved horns. Their horns are used for protection against predators, and they also use them in displays of dominance within the herd. Males are larger than females and can weigh up to 1000 kg.
