New PNSO Tsintaosaurus Review:
Firstly, this is a lovely figure, quite a lot of detailed has been paid to the folds, wrinkles and texture of the skin. Along the dorsal run muted brown/grey stripes with teal accents. A simple touch that I find aesthetically pleasing. If I had to pick a favorite quality, the head with its tiny details and nostrils would be it. Overall, I do find the body and stance of this Tsintaosaurus appealing.
PNSO Tsintaosaurus Facts:
Tsintaosaurus means "Qingdao lizard", is a genus of hadrosaurid dinosaur from China. It was aproximately 27 ft in length and weighed 2.5 tons. Originally reconstructed with a unicorn horn-like crest more recently found to be inaccurate. What had been thought of as the crest was actually the rear of the crest that originated from the tip of the snout.
A hadrosaur, Tsintaosaurus had a characteristic 'duck bill' snout and a battery of powerful teeth which it used to chew vegetation. It usually walked on all fours, but could rear up on its hind legs to scout for predators and flee when it spotted one. Like other hadrosaurs, Tsintaosaurus probably lived in herds.
