The Safari Ltd. American Mastodon showcases the mastodon's characteristic features, including a robust and bulky body, a trunk similar to that of modern elephants, and two long, curved tusks. The figure exudes motion with feet in a walking position and the trunk raised as if ready to spray some water or pluck some fruit from a tree branch.

Its fur is well textured - giving a rough appearance and is depicted in light brown tones, with darker accents on the tail and cream-colored tusks, reflecting the mastodon's adaptation to cold environments.

The Safari Ltd. American Mastodon measures approx: 8.2" L x 2.85" W x 4.3" H.

Though similar in appearance to the woolly mammoth, the American mastodon is not closely related. The mastodons split from the other members of the order Proboscidea around 25 million years ago. The most well-known of these beasts was the American mastodon, which was the last of the group to go extinct about 11,000 years ago.

    Mastodons have been largely underrepresented in the figure market. I am pleased that when they did one, they did it right!
