Released in 2023, this model is characterized by its striking contrast between its tan body and white mane and tail. We really like the coloring on the body. One drawback is the mane has fine strands that extend onto the neck of the figure. The white mane paint is often extended beyond the boundary of the hair. Actually looks sloppy in some places. We wish more precision would have been used on the mane. Overall a fine looking model from Schleich - questionable paint application.
Haflinger Mare Stallion Information:
The Haflinger is a small, sturdy horse breed originally developed in the mountain regions of Austria and northern Italy. The breed is closely related to the Icelandic horse, and is known for its gentle, friendly temperament and sure-footedness in rough terrain. The Haflinger has a golden chestnut coat, though some may be palomino, buckskin, or cream. It stands at an average of 14.2 hands, and is known for its strong, muscular build and well-balanced body. It is also known for its hardiness and agility, as well as its intelligence and willingness to learn.
The breed is thought to be descended from the Northern Italian Tarpan, and was bred to be a draft and farm horse. Today, it is commonly used as a pleasure horse, and is popular in both dressage and show jumping. It is also a great mount for trail riding and horse packing. The Haflinger is easy to train and is an excellent choice for beginner riders, as it is known for its calm, gentle personality. It is particularly well-suited for children, as it is very responsive and willing to please.
