Giganotosaurus was one of the largest meat-eating dinosaurs ever discovered. It lived approximately 99 to 97 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous Period in what is now Argentina. Growing to lengths of around 12 to 13 meters (39 to 43 feet), it ranked among the largest known terrestrial predators.
Paleontologists believe Giganotosaurus hunted large herbivorous dinosaurs that shared its environment. Its powerful jaws, sharp teeth, and massive body made it a formidable predator within the ancient ecosystems of South America.
