The citrus longhorned beetle (Anoplophora chinensis) is a large wood-boring insect native to East Asia, including China, Japan, and Korea. It is easily recognized by its glossy black body covered with irregular white spots and its extremely long, banded antennae that can exceed the length of its body. Adults typically measure about 1 to 1.5 inches long. The beetle’s larvae tunnel deep into the wood of host trees, feeding on the inner tissues and disrupting the tree’s ability to transport water and nutrients.
