Afrovenator, whose name means "African hunter," was a carnivorous theropod dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period in what is now Niger, Africa. It was a bipedal predator with a relatively lightweight build, long hind limbs, and a long tail.
Like other theropods, Afrovenator walked on two legs and possessed jaws equipped with sharp teeth for feeding on other animals. Its fossil remains provide important evidence of the predatory dinosaurs that inhabited northern Africa during the Early Cretaceous.
