The Okapi, also known as the "forest giraffe" or "zebra giraffe," is characterized by its unique appearance, featuring a dark brown coat with horizontal white stripes on its hindquarters, resembling those of a zebra. It has large, rounded ears, a long neck, and a relatively short, prehensile tongue, which it uses to grasp leaves and buds from trees and shrubs.

Okapis are primarily solitary animals, inhabiting dense, tropical rainforests where they feed on a variety of vegetation, fruits, and fungi.

Due to their shy and secretive nature, Okapis were not discovered by Western scientists until the early 20th century, despite being known to indigenous peoples of the Congo Basin for centuries.
