Daspletosaurus, which means "frightful lizard," lived approximately 77 to 74 million years ago in what is now North America. It was closely related to the famous Tyrannosaurus rex, sharing many similar anatomical features, including its large size, robust build, and formidable teeth. However, Daspletosaurus had its own unique characteristics, such as a more prominent crest on its skull and longer, narrower teeth.
Daspletosaurus was a top predator in its ecosystem, preying on a variety of herbivorous dinosaurs such as ceratopsians and hadrosaurs. Its name reflects its fearsome reputation as a formidable hunter capable of taking down large prey with ease.
