CollectA Angel Shark #88999 Review:

CollectA's Angel Shark model has quickly become one of my favorites. This stunning figure captures the essence of the elusive and intriguing Angel Shark with unparalleled detail and craftsmanship. From its distinctive wide pectoral fins to its murky green hide adorned with mesmerizing multi-colored spots, this model is truly cool. With its mouth wide open, appearing ready to strike, the Angel Shark is depicted in a strong lunging position that conveys a sense of power and intensity. The head raised and mouth agape, ready to seize its prey, adds an element of realism that is truly remarkable. It's as if this miniature sculpture has brought the shark's natural habitat right into my collection. The attention to detail in this figure is nothing short of impressive. The intricately designed pectoral fins accurately reflect the shark's unique anatomy, while the multi-colored spots on the otherwise murky green hide add a touch of vibrancy to the model. The textured skin and carefully sculpted features showcase the dedication CollectA has put into replicating the Angel Shark's appearance with precision.

Angel Shark Information:

Angel sharks, also known as angelsharks or monkfish, are a group of cartilaginous fish belonging to the family Squatinidae. They have a flattened body shape, wide pectoral fins, and distinctive "cephalic lobes" or "wing-like extensions" on their heads, giving them an angelic appearance.
Angel sharks are primarily found in coastal and continental shelf areas of the Atlantic Ocean and the eastern Pacific Ocean. They inhabit sandy or muddy substrates, reefs, and rocky areas, typically at depths ranging from a few feet to several hundred feet.
These sharks are ambush predators, burying themselves in the substrate and waiting for prey to come close. When an opportunity arises, they lunge forward to capture their prey using their sharp teeth. Their diet primarily consists of bony fish, crustaceans, and cephalopods.
Reproduction in angel sharks is ovoviviparous, with females giving birth to live young. After a gestation period of several months, relatively large and well-developed pups are born. The number of offspring varies among species.
Several species of angel sharks are currently facing conservation concerns due to overfishing and habitat degradation. Their slow reproductive rate and specific habitat requirements make them vulnerable. Consequently, some species are listed as critically endangered or endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Angel sharks exhibit intriguing adaptations for their bottom-dwelling lifestyle, making them a captivating group of sharks to study and appreciate.
