Ouranosaurus was a herbivorous dinosaur that lived approximately 125 to 112 million years ago during the Early Cretaceous period. It was part of the Iguanodontidae family, known for their adaptability and diverse features. Originating in what is now North Africa, Ouranosaurus thrived in a warm, floodplain environment.
A standout feature of Ouranosaurus is its dorsal sail, formed by elongated neural spines connected by skin or muscle. This sail may have played roles in thermoregulation, communication, or display to attract mates. Ouranosaurus reached lengths of around 23–26 feet and weighed about 4 tons.
