The emperor scorpion (Pandinus imperator) is one of the world's largest scorpion species and is native to the tropical forests and savannas of West Africa. Adults can reach lengths of up to 8 inches, including the tail, and spend much of their time hiding beneath logs, rocks, and leaf litter.
Emperor scorpions use their large pincers to capture insects, spiders, and other small prey, relying on physical strength more often than venom.
