Wolf cubs are born into close-knit packs where every member helps care for and protect the young. Born in the spring, they spend their first weeks in a den, relying entirely on their mother and the rest of the pack for survival. At birth, they are blind and deaf but quickly begin exploring their surroundings.
As they mature, wolf cubs develop important hunting and social skills through play, including mock fights and chasing games. By about six months of age, they begin accompanying adult wolves on hunts, learning the cooperative behaviors that make wolves successful predators.
