Lanzhousaurus was a large herbivorous dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period approximately 120 million years ago in what is now China. It belonged to a group of ornithopod dinosaurs related to iguanodonts and was capable of moving on both two and four legs.
One of the most unusual features of Lanzhousaurus was its exceptionally large teeth, among the biggest known among plant-eating dinosaurs. These teeth suggest it was adapted for processing tough vegetation efficiently. Fossils discovered in Gansu Province have provided important insight into the diversity of herbivorous dinosaurs that lived in Asia during the Early Cretaceous period.
