The Safari Ltd. Daspletosaurus is a detailed representation of one of North America's top predators before the rise of Tyrannosaurus rex. Featuring a powerful build, large skull, and muscular tail, this figure captures the appearance of a formidable Late Cretaceous hunter.
Safari Ltd. Daspletosaurus measures approximately: 9" L x 4.5" H.
This Safari Ltd. Daspletosaurus features a robust sculpt with realistic proportions and an aggressive stance. The figure highlights the powerful jaws, muscular legs, and deep body that made this tyrannosaur one of the dominant predators of its time. Fine skin texture and careful sculpting add visual interest throughout the model.
The figure's dynamic pose gives it a sense of movement while maintaining scientific plausibility. Its size makes it an excellent display piece for dinosaur collections, and it pairs especially well with other Late Cretaceous species. Collectors looking for a tyrannosaur that is less commonly represented than T. rex will appreciate this impressive model.
Daspletosaurus was a genus of tyrannosaurid dinosaur that lived in North America approximately 77 to 74 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period. Its name means "frightful lizard," an appropriate description for one of the apex predators of its ecosystem.
Closely related to Tyrannosaurus rex, Daspletosaurus shared many of the same characteristics, including a large head, powerful jaws, and strong hind limbs. However, it lived roughly ten million years earlier and was somewhat smaller, reaching lengths of approximately 30 feet. It also possessed proportionally longer arms and slightly different skull proportions than its more famous relative.
As a top predator, Daspletosaurus likely hunted large herbivorous dinosaurs that shared its environment. Fossil evidence suggests it was a powerful hunter capable of delivering devastating bites with its robust jaws and sharp teeth.
