Safari Ltd. Prehistoric Collection - Dilophosaurus #287829
3+ Years
Small Parts. Not for children under 3 years.
The Safari Ltd. Dilophosaurus captures one of the most recognizable predators of the Early Jurassic period. Featuring the dinosaur's distinctive twin head crests, slender body, and long tail, this figure presents a realistic interpretation of this fast-moving theropod.
Safari Ltd. Dilophosaurus measures: 7.2" L x 4.25" H.
This Safari Ltd. Dilophosaurus is the earlier of two Dilophosaurus figures produced by Safari Ltd. The model features a sleek, athletic build with a narrow upper body, wider hips, and an upright stance that gives it an impressive height when displayed alongside other theropod figures.
The sculpt showcases excellent detail throughout, particularly in the head. The paired crests feature blended paint applications with multiple shades that create a realistic appearance rather than a single flat color. The bright orange eyes add visual impact, while the teeth are sharply defined and well executed. Although the jaw is fixed, the overall head sculpt is one of the figure's strongest features. This remains a popular Dilophosaurus among collectors due to its lifelike proportions and attractive paintwork.

Dilophosaurus was a genus of theropod dinosaur that lived in what is now North America approximately 193 million years ago during the Early Jurassic period. At the time, it was one of the largest known land predators on the continent. Despite its intimidating appearance, Dilophosaurus was more lightly built than later giant theropods such as Tyrannosaurus rex.
Dilophosaurus is best known for the pair of curved crests that ran along the top of its skull. Paleontologists are uncertain exactly how these crests were used, but they may have played a role in display, species recognition, or attracting mates. The dinosaur had a long neck, powerful arms, and sharp, serrated teeth suited for hunting prey. Unlike most later theropods, Dilophosaurus retained four fingers on each hand, although the outermost finger was greatly reduced.
