The European Tree Frog (Hyla arborea) is a small amphibian native to Europe, parts of Asia, and North Africa. It is well known for its bright green skin and specialized toe pads that allow it to climb leaves, branches, and aquatic plants with ease. Unlike many frogs, the European Tree Frog is often active during the daytime, hunting insects and other small invertebrates in wetlands, meadows, and forest-edge habitats.
These frogs can slightly change shades depending on temperature and humidity, helping them regulate body temperature and blend into their surroundings. Although still relatively widespread, habitat loss and environmental changes have impacted some wild populations.
The European Tree Frog only grows to about three to four centimeters in length but stands out thanks to its bright green coloration and distinctive dark stripe running from the muzzle past the eyes along the body.
