Tupuxuara was a large toothless pterosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous Period approximately 112 million years ago in what is now Brazil. It is recognized by its prominent head crest and long wings, which allowed it to soar efficiently over ancient coastlines.
Although often called flying dinosaurs, pterosaurs were not dinosaurs but a separate group of flying reptiles. Fossil evidence suggests that the largest Tupuxuara individuals had skulls measuring about 130 centimeters (4.3 feet) in length and wingspans reaching approximately 5.5 meters (18 feet).
