Tyrannosaurus rex, one of the most well-known dinosaurs, lived during the Late Cretaceous period around 68 to 66 million years ago. Known for its massive size-up to 40 feet long-T. rex was an apex predator with powerful jaws capable of delivering bone-crushing bites. It walked on two strong legs and had relatively short arms, each with two clawed fingers. Fossils suggest T. rex was a formidable hunter but may have also scavenged when the opportunity arose.
