Plateosaurus was a large dinosaur, reaching lengths of up to 7 meters (23 feet) and weighing several tons. It was characterized by its relatively small head, elongated neck, and robust limbs, which were adapted for both bipedal and quadrupedal locomotion. It likely browsed on low-lying vegetation, using its teeth to strip leaves and branches from plants.

It had large, flexible, 5-fingered hands with curved claws that may have been used in feeding or defense.

    Plateosaurus (CollectA)

Posted by Patrick on 9th Apr 2026

I really like this figure. It's extremely accurate. For example, if you look closely you can see that the modelled the head on details of the actual skull. They also included the oddly large claws that were present on the hands. There aren't a lot of good models of prosauropods available, yet they are extremly abundant in the late Triassic and early Jurrasic. An ecologically important group from that time period, and interesting as transitional forms between small carnivorous dinonsaurs and the sauropods that eventually replaced them. Very happy with the purchase, especially for the price.
