A detailed Mojo model of the iconic New Zealand kiwi bird, capturing the round body and long beak of this unique nocturnal species:
The Mojo New Zealand Kiwi measures: 2.56" L x 1.38" W x 2.05" H
Mojo's New Zealand Kiwi captures the distinctive appearance of one of the world's most unusual birds. The figure features the kiwi's rounded body, long slender beak, and shaggy feather texture that resembles coarse hair more than traditional bird plumage. The earthy brown coloration and slightly forward-leaning posture reflect the bird's natural stance as it searches along the forest floor for insects and worms.
The sculpt balances simplicity with recognizable detail, making the figure immediately identifiable as a kiwi while remaining durable enough for regular handling. Subtle feather texturing and carefully shaped proportions give the model a realistic appearance suited for wildlife displays, educational collections, or New Zealand-themed animal sets. Its compact size also allows it to integrate naturally with other bird and wildlife figures.
Kiwis are small flightless birds native only to New Zealand and are considered a national symbol of the country. Unlike most birds, they have tiny vestigial wings hidden beneath shaggy feathers and rely primarily on walking rather than flight. Kiwis are nocturnal and spend much of the night searching the forest floor for insects, worms, seeds, and small invertebrates.
One of the kiwi's most unusual traits is its long beak with nostrils located near the tip, allowing it to detect food by smell. This is rare among birds, which generally rely more heavily on sight. Kiwis also lay remarkably large eggs relative to their body size, with some eggs reaching up to 20 percent of the female's body weight. Habitat loss and introduced predators have threatened wild kiwi populations, leading to significant conservation efforts throughout New Zealand.
