Bees are social insects, living in colonies of up to 50,000 members. Each colony has a queen bee, who is the only bee that can lay eggs. The rest of the colony is made up of worker bees, who spend their days gathering nectar and pollen from flowers. This nectar and pollen is then used to feed the colony and create wax and honey.
Bees are also incredibly important for their role in the pollination process. Pollen is picked up by the bees as they move from flower to flower, and is then transferred to the stigma of the next flower, allowing the plants to reproduce. This helps to ensure that fruits and vegetables are able to grow and thrive.
Despite their importance, bees are facing a number of threats in the modern world, including disease, habitat loss, and the use of pesticides.
