Beelzebufo cornuta, often referred to as the “Horned Frog from Hell,” is a scientifically inspired interpretation of the real prehistoric species Beelzebufo ampinga, imagined with features similar to the modern Ceratophrys cornuta, the South American horned frog. Like its modern relative, B. cornuta is envisioned as a powerful ambush predator with a broad mouth, strong jaws, and a horned, armored skull designed for both protection and camouflage among dense vegetation. Modern horned frogs are known for their voracious appetites and ability to take down prey nearly their own size, and this model draws on that same ferocity, blending scientific evidence with plausible artistic reconstruction to show how a giant horned amphibian may have looked in a lush, prehistoric rainforest ecosystem.
