The adult giraffe is an impressive and majestic animal found in the savannas and grasslands of Africa. These gentle giants can grow up to 18 feet tall, making them the tallest mammals on earth. Their long necks, which can reach up to six feet in length, help them to reach the leaves of trees that other herbivores can't access.The adult giraffe has a distinctive coat pattern of irregular, brown-colored patches that are separated by white spaces. The coloration of the patches varies among different subspecies of giraffe. They also have long, thin legs that support their large bodies and allow them to run at speeds of up to 35 miles per hour.
Despite their size, adult giraffes are known for their gentle and docile nature. They are herbivores and mainly feed on leaves, flowers, and fruits from trees, primarily acacia trees. Adult giraffes have a prehensile tongue that is about 18 inches long, which helps them to pluck leaves and twigs from tall branches.
