White Alligator, differing only in coloration.

The name "alligator" is derived from the Spanish phrase meaning "the lizard." Adult American alligators commonly reach lengths of about 13 feet and can weigh more than 750 pounds, while the largest recorded individuals have exceeded 15 feet and weighed over 1,000 pounds. They are found naturally only in the United States, China, and Mexico.
Young alligators feed on insects, fish, snails, crustaceans, and worms before progressing to larger prey such as birds, mammals, reptiles, and fish. Their powerful jaws and famous "death roll" help them subdue prey, while their strong bite contrasts with relatively weak jaw-opening muscles. Although attacks on humans are uncommon, alligators may defend themselves if threatened.
