Schleich Giganotosaurus Dinosaur Review:
Schleich currently offers two versions of Giganotosaurus figures - this 15010 Giganotosaurus is the "adult" version they offer.

We really like this figure. The brown base paint with the dark and light brown accents on the back is very dynamic. Then, the purplish head / face just looks awesome. The jaw has good range of motion, and the inside of the mouth is top notch. The top of the mouth has good "ribbing", the tongue is well done (not overly red like some tongues are), and the teeth stand out against the darker colors. This is a well done figure and would make a great addition to your Schleich dinosaur collection.

Giganotosaurus Dinosaur Facts:
Giganotosaurus is a genus of theropod dinosaur (hollow bones and 3 toed limbs) that lived in what is now Argentina, during the early Cenomanian age of the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 99.6 to 97 million years ago. One Giganotosaurus fossil was in 1993 and was almost 70% complete. Giganotosaurus translates as "giant southern lizard". The genus attracted much interest and became part of a heated scientific debate about the maximum sizes of theropod dinosaurs. Giganotosaurus is thought to have been one of the largest theropod dinosaurs but it is difficult to estimate its size reliably. It is therefore impossible to determine with certainty whether it was larger than Tyrannosaurus, for example, which has been considered the largest theropod historically. Giganotosaurus has been compared to an oversized version of the well-known genus Allosaurus.
