Concavenator Information:

Concavenator is a genus of theropod dinosaur that lived approximately 130 million years ago during the Early Cretaceous period. Its fossils were discovered in the Las Hoyas fossil site in Spain. The name "Concavenator" refers to the distinctive hump or ridge on its back, which is thought to have supported a structure, possibly a sail or hump of some sort, although its exact function remains uncertain.

Here are some key features and characteristics of Concavenator:

Size and Classification: Concavenator was a medium-sized dinosaur, estimated to be around 6 to 7 meters (20 to 23 feet) in length. It belonged to the theropod group called Carcharodontosauridae, which also includes other large predatory dinosaurs.

Hump or Sail: One of the most notable features of Concavenator is the raised structure on its back, resembling a hump or sail. The exact purpose of this feature is not definitively understood. Some theories suggest it may have played a role in thermoregulation, display, or storage of energy reserves.

Arms with Quill Knobs: Concavenator had relatively short arms with enlarged bumps or knobs on the forearm bones, which might have supported quill-like structures or feathers. This is an interesting feature that indicates the possibility of primitive feathers or feather-like structures in some theropods.

Teeth and Diet: Like other members of the Carcharodontosauridae, Concavenator had sharp, serrated teeth adapted for cutting through flesh. This suggests that it was a carnivorous predator, likely preying on smaller dinosaurs and other creatures of its time.

Discovery and Significance: The fossils of Concavenator were first described in 2010, and its discovery provided valuable insights into the diversity and adaptations of theropod dinosaurs during the Early Cretaceous period. The presence of a sail or hump on its back is a unique feature not commonly seen in other theropods.

Despite the information gained from its discovery, there is still much to learn about Concavenator, and ongoing research in paleontology continues to expand our understanding of this intriguing dinosaur.

Schleich Product Information:

At an impressive six meters in length, the Concavenator is an imposing figure. The lizard's skin shines grass-green and yellow. On its back it has an elongated hump, which stands out from the rest of the body in red. With its striking appearance, it keeps enemies at bay. If that's not enough, it might have to bare its sharp teeth. That will make anyone run for the hills.

It looks a bit poisonous, the Concavenator. That's probably because of its yellow-green lizard skin and the fiery red hump on its back. I wonder if it has a purpose other than scaring people. It's certainly impressive. The prehistoric giant's height of six meters also commands respect. But if you mess with it, you'll soon realize that the Concavenator isn't in the mood for fun: its powerful jaws open and close menacingly as it exposes his razor-sharp teeth. Time to head for the hills!
