Brachiosaurus was one of the largest dinosaurs, with estimates suggesting they reached lengths of up to 85 feet (26 meters) and weighed around 30 to 80 tons.

Brachiosaurus measures: 11.4" L x 4.7" W x 6.9" H

Brachiosaurus Information:

Brachiosaurus was a genus of large, herbivorous dinosaurs that lived during the Late Jurassic Period, around 154 to 153 million years ago. The name "Brachiosaurus" is derived from the Greek words "brachion," meaning arm, and "sauros," meaning lizard. This name reflects the characteristic longer front limbs, which made their front end higher than their back.

Key features of Brachiosaurus include:

Size: Brachiosaurus was one of the largest dinosaurs, with estimates suggesting they reached lengths of up to 85 feet (26 meters) and weighed around 30 to 80 tons.

Habitat: Fossils of Brachiosaurus have been found in North America, Africa, and possibly other parts of the world. They likely inhabited floodplain environments and may have been semi-aquatic.

Long Neck and Front Limbs: Brachiosaurus had a long neck, which allowed it to reach vegetation high in trees. Its front limbs were longer than its hind limbs, a unique feature among sauropod dinosaurs, giving it a giraffe-like stance.

Diet: Being herbivorous, Brachiosaurus primarily fed on vegetation, using its long neck to reach high branches and leaves. They were likely browsers, consuming a variety of plant material.

Discovery: The first Brachiosaurus fossils were discovered in the Morrison Formation of Colorado, USA, by paleontologist Elmer S. Riggs in 1900. Additional fossils have been found in various locations over the years.

Classification: Brachiosaurus is classified as a sauropod dinosaur, belonging to the family Brachiosauridae. Other well-known sauropods include Apatosaurus, Diplodocus, and Brontosaurus.

Schleich Product Information:

The Brachiosaurus is one of the largest animals the world has ever seen. It's 23 meters long, which is almost as long as an entire lane of an outdoor swimming pool! It towers over even other dinosaurs at 13 meters high. It may look dangerous, especially with its fiery red back, but actually, it's quite peaceful and only eats plants. Lucky for us!
