Mammoth Information:

Woolly mammoths were large, shaggy-haired relatives of modern elephants that lived during the Ice Age, most commonly in the Pleistocene epoch. They were well adapted to cold climates, with thick fur, a layer of insulating fat, and long, curved tusks that could grow up to 15 feet long. Adult mammoths stood about 9 to 11 feet tall at the shoulder and could weigh up to 6 tons. Their tusks were used for digging through snow to reach grasses and other vegetation, as well as for defense and display.

Mammoths roamed across North America, Europe, and Asia in herds, much like modern elephants. They lived alongside early humans, who hunted them for meat, hides, and bones. Most woolly mammoths went extinct around 4,000 years ago, likely due to a combination of climate change and human hunting. Frozen mammoth remains found in Siberia have provided scientists with valuable insights into their appearance, diet, and preserved DNA.
