The Kermode Bear, also known as the Spirit Bear, is a rare subspecies of American Black Bear found primarily in coastal British Columbia, Canada. Despite its pale appearance, it is not albino and is not related to Polar Bears. Instead, its white or cream-colored coat is caused by a recessive gene unique to certain populations. Only about 10–20% of Kermode Bears display this striking coloration.
